Artist Residency 2025, from 29/09 to 05/10

We Are Open is the artist residency of Ventotene Open Festival, an immersive experience that transforms the island into an open-air creative laboratory.

In the days leading up to the festival, musicians, producers, and visual artists, either in training or in a research phase, come together to experiment, weaving sounds, visions, and ideas into a collective creation process that stems from the idea of freedom and unity enshrined in the Ventotene Manifesto.

The experimentation extends beyond sound with installations and digital art projections that amplify the experience and give visual form to music, creating evocative environments and developing a shared exploration capable of transforming into something original.

This year, the residency is enriched by the valuable collaboration of students from the Computer Art course at NABA, Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti, guided by Gregorio Comandini, a third-year lecturer and artist from the transmedia studio Liminal State, who leads the creative process, fostering dialogue between art, music, and nature. The outcome of these research days comes to life during the festival, when ideas, visions, and sounds born in the residency transform into performances open to the public, bearing witness to a process that not only blends languages but seeks to redefine them.

The goal is to lay the groundwork for the construction of a new Mediterranean identity that shifts the boundaries of future and tradition, merging with the island's unique environment and enhancing its cultural and natural heritage.

We Are Open is more than a residency: it is an act of faith in collective creation, an experiment in artistic freedom in a place that has made vision and community its essence. A unique opportunity to immerse oneself in a creative journey where music, art, and experimentation meet to give life to new forms of expression.
